Ferran Torres has told Barcelona he wants to join Paris Saint-Germain this summer after agreeing personal terms with the French club, a source has told ESPN.
Torres, 26, has just one year to run on his contract with Barça and the source added that the Spanish champions will not stand in his way if a fee can be agreed with PSG.
Talks are now expected to begin between the two clubs as Barça await a first offer from the back-to-back European champions.
Torres remains on holiday after scoring the winning goal for Spain in last month's World Cup final victory over Argentina.
He spent time in the United States last week as part of a promotional tour where he hinted that he was open to leaving Barça this summer.
A source has subsequently confirmed that his desire is to join PSG, where he would play under Luis Enrique, his former coach with the Spanish national team.
Torres' possible exit would speed up Barça's pursuit of a No.9 following the departure of Robert Lewandowski to the Chicago Fire.
ESPN have previously reported that Julián Álvarez is the club's top target, although Atlético Madrid's reluctance to sell the Argentine could force them to explore other options.
Torres joined Barça from Manchester City in 2021 for around €55 million, initially playing as a winger.
However, in recent seasons he has transitioned to a more central role, competing with Lewandowski for the No.9 position under Hansi Flick.
He netted 21 times in 49 appearances last season having scored 19 goals in 45 matches in the previous campaign.

In total, he has scored 65 goals for Barça across five seasons and 207 games.
He featured in all eight matches as Spain won a second World Cup this summer, too, although the majority of his appearances came as a substitute.
It was off the bench in the final that he wrote his name into Spanish football history, scoring the winning goal in extra time as La Roja defeated Argentina 1-0.
