Moreno: Mourinho at Real Madrid won't work long term (2:27)

Real Madrid's new star signing Yan Diomande revealed he is ready to work hard for José Mourinho after speaking with compatriot Didier Drogba.

The 19-year-old made the £100 million ($136.5m) move from RB Leipzig to Real Madrid this summer.

And as he joins a Galacticos side consisting of Vinícius Júnior, Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham and others, he will now have the added thrill of playing under Mourinho.

The 63-year-old returned to the Bernabéu this summer, having previously won La Liga and the Copa del Rey when at the club between 2010 and 2013.

Mourinho managed Drogba during both of his stints at Chelsea, between 2004 and 2007 and then again from 2013 to 2015.

Speaking in an interview with Sporty TV, Diomande confirmed he had spoken to Drogba, a player he idolised alongside fellow countryman Yaya Toure.

He said: "I don't have a contact with Yaya but I spoke with Drogba.

"We spoke two days ago, he told me Mourinho is my dad, be careful, you have to work hard.

"But he is a good guy and of course you are going to listen because he was a legend, he's still a legend.

"So you have to listen and it is good to have conversations with them because I'm taking a lot of motivation from them, so it's pushing me to work hard to become a legend also.

"You play for Mourinho, you want to die for Mourinho, because you know his character and the way he is.

"So everyone wants to die for him and you are ready to die for him."

Diomande has some work to do to become the best player at his club, let alone in the world, but that does not stop his ambition.

The Ivorian is clear what his goals in football are and that his dream is to become one of the very best players in world football.

"I still want to be one of the bigger players in the world," he said.

"That was my idea since the beginning and it never changed, so I keep working and keep following my dream every day.

"You have to be confident, you have to be humble of course, but you have to be confident and I'm working for that.

"It was like a dream [signing for Real Madrid], it was like a dream because there is no bigger club than Madrid and when Madrid come in and say they want you, it is like a dream and I didn't sleep, I couldn't believe it.

"Today I'm here [at the Bernabéu] and I am super happy and proud."
