Inter Miami forward Germán Berterame said he felt like "someone turned off the TV" after suffering a head injury during the match against CF Montreal on July 25.

Berterame collapsed onto the pitch following a knock to the head by Efraín Morales' elbow inside the box, requiring immediate medical intervention. Inter Miami's medical staff rushed to the field before signaling for the ambulance as players stood frozen around Berterame.

"Once I felt the hit, I automatically felt like someone turned off the TV is how I like to say it. Afterwards, I woke up in the ambulance and was fully conscious asking questions about what happened. As the hours passed, I kept remembering what happened," Berterame said on Friday.

He added that his wife suffered a panic attack after seeing the incident unfold on the television as Inter Miami played away at Montreal.

"It was worrisome because through the TV, my family had a really bad time. My wife had a panic attack after seeing the images on TV and the incident on TV. But I am okay, I am happy and my family is calm," Berterame said with tears in his eyes.

Berterame was sidelined following the incident due to the MLS concussion protocol, missing six matches.

"What happened to Germán was a very, very hard blow. Regarding the play, it's obvious there was an elbow, which is why a penalty was awarded, he fell like dead weight," Miami boss Guillermo Hoyos said after the game on July 25.

"I think he might have already been unconscious given the severity of the impact. He took that elbow and hit the ground hard, but thank God he is recovering well right now. He is conscious and his family is aware of everything and is calm. The most important thing is that he is okay, and he is okay now.

"It shook us all because we really didn't know what to do. It was a moment of great desperation and deep sadness, because it went beyond the result, the football, and all that; it's about human life, that's what matters most."

The forward confirmed on Friday that he will be available for selection during Saturday's match against Toronto FC at Nu Stadium.
