Manchester City are in talks to sign Cody Gakpo from Liverpool, sources have told ESPN.

Talks between the clubs picked up steam on Saturday with the Reds valuing Gakpo at £85 million ($115m), per ESPN sources.

City have been given encouragement that Gakpo is interested in a move to the Etihad Stadium and are pressing ahead with discussions.

The Dutchman -- who started Liverpool's 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest on Saturday -- is one of a number of forwards who have been considered to boost Enzo Maresca's squad along with Everton's Iliman Ndiaye and Pedro Neto at Chelsea.

City have already agreed a deal with Palmeiras for Brazilian winger Allan. Both Savio and Omar Marmoush left the club to join Tottenham last week.

Sources have told ESPN that City are set for a busy end to the transfer window. As well as negotiations for Gakpo, City are also expected to make at least one late bid for Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernández.

ESPN's Beth Lindop contributed to this report.
