The Atlanta Falcons did not receive any compensatory draft picks for this year's NFL draft, the league announced on Monday night.
A total of 32 compensatory draft picks were awarded to 14 different teams. Carolina was the only team in the NFC South to receive compensatory draft picks with one in the fifth round and one in the sixth.
Under the rules for compensatory draft selections, a team losing more or better compensatory free agents than it acquires in the previous year is eligible to receive compensatory draft picks.
The Falcons did not lose any significant players following the 2013 season. The group included tight end Chase Coffman (Tennessee) and cornerback Dominique Franks (Baltimore). Since 1994, the Falcons have been awarded 18 compensatory draft picks. They lost 2010 draft picks Sean Weatherspoon (first round) and Corey Peters (third) in free agency this year, which could bode well for compensatory picks next year.
The NFL did not release the official 2015 draft order for all rounds. The Falcons currently own the No. 8 overall pick in the draft.
