NEW ORLEANS -- The Atlanta Falcons don't have to worry about playing without Julio Jones on Thursday night, as Jones was listed as probable on the final injury report.
But two Falcons were listed as out for the first NFC South game against the New Orleans Saints: linebacker Justin Durant and center Mike Person.
Durant suffered ligament damage in his elbow and will miss his second consecutive game. Coach Dan Quinn's last update on Durant said he was improving, but not there yet. It's not believed to be an injury that requires surgery. There's no definite timetable on his return.
With Durant out of the lineup as the starting weakside linebacker, Joplo Bartu is likely to start in the base package with Nate Stupar in the nickel. Stupar, whose blitz against Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins last Sunday led to Robert Alford's game-winning 59-yard touchdown interception return, has earned more snaps with his play throughout the season.
As for Person, he was solid before spraining his ankle last Sunday. He'll be replaced by James Stone, who lost a chance to start at left guard after struggling in the preseason. Gino Gradkowski, who has been inactive since being claimed off waivers from Denver, is expected to be active as Stone's backup.
Falcons running back Devonta Freeman (toe) and wide receiver Leonard Hankerson (ribs) are listed as probable.
In New Orleans, wide receiver Marques Colston (shoulder) and left tackle Terron Armstead (knee) both are listed as doubtful. Guard Jahri Evans is probable after missed the last three games. Here's the full breakdown of the Saints' injuries from Saints reporter Mike Triplett.
