ATLANTA -- Atlanta Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff said Julio Jones is ready for training camp, as expected, following offseason foot surgery.

How much Jones will participate is yet to be determined, but Dimitroff feels good about his star player's progress from a March 6 procedure on his left foot.

"Julio, he's healed up very, very well," Dimitroff said. "As you know, he's such a focused guy. We're ready for him to jump into camp. I don't know the exact rep count. ... I think he's one of those guys right now that is really fired up about coming back, because the spring was not as active. You know him. He's so competitive. He wants to get out on the field."

Dimitroff went on to say the Falcons will continue to monitor Jones "for a guy who is so important" to the team. Jones did some light running during minicamp and caught passes, but he did not participate in practice. The entire time, Jones insisted he'd be ready for training camp.

"Training camp comes, we'll definitely be rolling," Jones said in June.

The Falcons seem likely to limit Jones' reps, like they've done during the regular season when he's dealt with nagging injuries.

Coach Dan Quinn is likely to provide more of an update on the practice plan for Jones and the entire health of his team when he addresses the media on Wednesday morning. Dimitroff already said first-round pick Takk McKinley, who is coming off shoulder surgery, will be limited during training camp.

It doesn't appear that any player will be placed on the physically unable to perform list, but that's not guaranteed. Some of the other players returning from injuries include Pro Bowl cornerback Desmond Trufant (pectoral), wide receiver Taylor Gabriel (lower leg), wide receiver Devin Fuller (shoulder), linebacker Kemal Ishmael (shoulder), and defensive linemen Derrick Shelby (Achilles) and Adrian Clayborn (biceps).
