Mashinter, Oduya, Rozsival out with injuries

CHICAGO -- Chicago Blackhawks defensemen Johnny Oduya and Michal Rozsival as well as forward Brandon Mashinter will not play in the team's final preseason game Friday against the New York Rangers due to injuries.

Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said Oduya has a lower-body injury and could return to the team on Sunday. Rozsival has an upper-body injury and is expected to miss at least a week. Mashinter suffered an undisclosed injury against the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday.

"I thought he was progressing in camp," Quenneville said of Mashinter. "Unfortunately, last game he got a little bit of an injury there. It’s kept him off the ice the last few days. We’ll see. I think at one point he’s got a chance to play here."

Quenneville isn't concerned about his defensemen's injuries heading into the team’s regular season opener next week.

“Johnny’s going to be fine, and Rozy is not that bad, so it’s not we’re looking too long in either one,” Quenneville said after the team's morning skate in Chicago.
