How will the Bengals new wideouts match up against Jets CB Darrelle Revis?

The Cincinnati Bengals won't be easing their new receiving corps into the regular season. The New York Jets boast one of the best defenses in the league. The Jets lost four defensive starters from last season in Damon Harrison, Demario Davis, Calvin Pace and Antonio Cromatie, but they still have cornerback Darrelle Revis, now 31 but still considered one of the best in the game.

Revis will likely be matched up against Bengals star wideout A.J. Green. If he's able to take him out of the game, the Bengals options are limited. Tight end Tyler Eifert is hurt and rookie Tyler Boyd is still an unknown commodity.

Also unknown is Jets rookie linebacker Darron Lee, their first round draft pick and a speedy one at that (he ran a 4.47 40-yard dash at the NFL scouting combine). Defensive end Sheldon Richardson will sit this one out while he serves a one-game suspension.

OFFENSE

QB Ryan Fitzpatrick: He played for the Bengals in a previous life (2007-2008), in the days when he was an unknown understudy. Fitzpatrick is now the undisputed leader of the Jets, entering the season with a good amount of pressure. He raised the bar by throwing a franchise-record 31 touchdown passes last year, then battled the Jets at the bargaining table, landing a one-year, $12 million contract after a long dispute. He wasn't particularly sharp in the preseason.

RB Matt Forte: After eight productive years with the Chicago Bears, Forte will make his Jets debut amid great anticipation. Because of his versatility, he could be a huge weapon in Chan Gailey's spread offense. He's capable of lining up anywhere in the formation.

WR Brandon Marshall: Coming off perhaps the greatest receiving season in Jets history, Marshall, 32, is battling a sore hip and missed about a week of practice time. He's in great shape (he dropped about 10 pounds), but he didn't play a lot in the preseason. He's Fitzpatrick's go-to guy, as he averaged 11 targets per game in 2015.

DEFENSE

CB Darrelle Revis: If he's deployed the same way as last season, Revis will be matched up against A.J. Green without much safety help. The Jets always took a best-on-best approach with their Pro Bowl corner, but he showed signs of slippage in a couple of games. It'll be interesting to see if they change up the strategy.

LB Darron Lee: The coaches kept him under wraps in the preseason, limiting their speedy first-round pick to a conventional linebacker position. Expect that to change. He could have a specialized role that will allow him to blitz and get after the quarterback. Lee also has the ability to cover Giovani Bernard out of the backfield.

DE Muhammad Wilkerson: The $86 million man won't have his sidekick, Sheldon Richardson (suspended for Week 1), so he'll have to be the lead dog against the Bengals' physical front. Wilkerson played only one preseason game as he recovered from a broken leg, but he looked fresh and explosive.
