The Cleveland Browns made a move on Tuesday afternoon that might indicate they do not have great news on Jordan Cameron, as the team signed tight end Gerell Robinson off Denver's practice squad.
Cameron left the loss to Pittsburgh late in the first half after aggravating the AC injury in his right shoulder. Cameron had missed time after injuring the shoulder in the preseason scrimmage at the University of Akron. The Browns have provided no information on Cameron, but it would seem logical they would not need a third tight end if he were healthy.
"We'll see what happens," was Cameron's only comment in Pittsburgh on the injury.
Cameron's loss means barring any developments between the NFL and NFLPA on a new drug-testing policy, the Browns could be without Josh Gordon and Cameron against New Orleans. Brian Hoyer played without both in Pittsburgh, though, and scored 24 points in the first 19 minutes of the second half to wipe out a 27-3 deficit.
Robinson spent part of the 2012 season on Arizona’s practice squad and all of 2013 and Week 1 of the 2014 season on Denver’s practice squad. He played wide receiver as Arizona State and finished with 135 receptions for 2,071 yards and 12 touchdowns in 47 games.
The Browns also added WR Marlon Moore to the roster. Moore had been suspended for the first game of the season.
The team waived offensive lineman Ryan Seymour and cornerback Aaron Berry. Both are mild surprises. Seymour was the team's eighth offensive lineman; without him they have seven. Berry had been one of the players mentioned by coach Mike Pettine when he discussed who might play if rookie Justin Gilbert's playing time was cut.
