Here's a look at the snap counts for each of the Dallas Cowboys' defensive players in Sunday's 42-7 win against the Indianapolis Colts:
Brandon Carr 46
J.J. Wilcox 42
Barry Church 40
Henry Melton 33
Nick Hayden 29
Tyler Patmon 25
Kyle Wilber 21
Bruce Carter 20
Jeff Heath 20
Cam Lawrence 20
Keith Smith 20
Hitchens, a fourth-round pick, keeps playing better every week. He led all linebackers with 30 snaps, and finished with a team-high seven tackles, two pass deflections and an interception.
The Cowboys used the big win to get linebacker Rolando McClain some much-needed rest for his knee and groin. He played just 29 snaps and still managed four tackles, including two for losses.
The Cowboys' 28-0 halftime lead made Indianapolis one-dimensional, setting up Melton to have a big day since he's a pass-rushing specialist. He played 33 snaps, the most since Week 3 against St. Louis, and recorded a quarterback pressure and two tackles.
Backups such as Smith, Lawrence, Heath and Patmon each had their most extensive playing time of the season as the Cowboys used their big lead to work a lot of role players into the lineup.
