Three defensive backs work out for Lions

With the Detroit Lions getting through Sunday's loss to Arizona fairly healthy and not needing a lot of help in certain positions, the workout load was fairly light for Detroit this week.

ESPN colleague Field Yates says three players worked out for the Lions this week -- all defensive backs, as the team continually searches for good options and potential young options at the position.

Here's a brief look at the three guys they brought in.

Marc Anthony, DB, California: No, Anthony isn't the two-time Grammy Award winner who was once married to Jennifer Lopez. This one played in 41 games at Cal with 32 starts. He had 138 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, five interceptions, 21 pass breakups and two forced fumbles. The Chandler, Arizona, native was drafted by Baltimore in the seventh round of the 2013 draft -- he has familiarity with Teryl Austin that way -- and was cut before the 2013 season. He was on Tampa Bay's practice squad last season and spent time with Tennessee and Tampa during this preseason. He has not been on a team during this NFL campaign.

Richard Marshall, CB, Fresno State: The Lions were clearly updating their book with him, as the 29-year-old Marshall was a second-round pick of Carolina in 2006. He's played in 124 NFL games for Carolina, Arizona, Miami and San Diego. He has made 531 tackles, had 18 interceptions and seven sacks. He was released by the Chargers, where he played the last season and a half, in October.

Kevin Rutland, DB, Missouri: An undrafted free agent out of Missouri in 2011, Rutland spent two years with Jacksonville, starting five games. He had 31 tackles and an interception in those games before being cut. He signed with Kansas City during the offseason but was cut in August.
