Breaking down B.J. Raji, Letroy Guion deals

GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Green Bay Packers gave out almost nothing in signing-bonus money to bring back defensive tackles B.J. Raji and Letroy Guion.

Of the two, only Raji received any upfront money. His contract contained a $500,000 signing bonus.

Here’s a breakdown of their contracts, both of which were one-year deals.

B.J. Raji

  • Cash value: $1.75 million

  • Salary-cap charge: $1.75 million

  • Signing bonus: $500,000

  • Roster bonus: $0

  • Workout bonus: $100,000

  • Base salary: $1.15 million

Notes: According to reports when Raji signed on Monday, the deal could be worth up to $3.5 million. The remaining money must be in the form of escalators or incentives, which at this point would not figure into Raji's salary-cap figure. Those are not considered likely to be earned money for salary-cap reasons.

Letroy Guion

  • Cash value: $2.75 million

  • Salary-cap charge: $2.75 million

  • Signing bonus: $0

  • Roster bonus: Up to $1.15 million ($71,875 per game active)

  • Workout bonus: $100,000

  • Base salary: $1.5 million

Notes: Guion also has up to $750,000 in incentives, which include a bonus for making the Pro Bowl. He also could lose money if he’s suspended following his plea deal for his February arrest in Florida.
