GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Now that we know how many selections the Green Bay Packers will have in the April 30-May 2 NFL draft and exactly where those picks fall in each round, we can get a better idea what kind of players general manager Ted Thompson might be able to land.
With that in mind, let's look at the recent players selected at the Packers' draft position in each round.
We’ve looked at players selected at No. 30 overall, No. 62 overall and No. 94 overall -- where the Packers will pick in the first three rounds.
Now, let's move to the fourth round, where Packers have the 129th overall selection. Here's a look at the players selected at that spot the last five years:
2014 -- Dontae Johnson, CB, N.C. State (San Francisco 49ers): Played in all 16 games as a rookie (including three starts) and had one interception and six pass breakups while playing mostly as a slot cover man.
2013 – John Simon, DE/OLB, Ohio State (Baltimore Ravens): Played in seven games for the Ravens as a rookie but then failed to make the opening-day roster in 2014. He was re-signed to the practice squad until the Houston Texans signed him a month into the regular season. Played in 11 games for the Texans as a backup.
2012 – Miles Burris, LB, San Diego State (Oakland Raiders): Became a full-time starter right away as a rookie and after missing all but six games in 2013 returned to a full-time starting role last season.
2011 – Julius Thomas, TE, Portland State (Denver Broncos): Made the Pro Bowl in each of the last two seasons, when he combined for 152 catches and 24 touchdowns before signing a five-year, $46 million contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars last month in free agency.
2010 – Jacques McClendon, G, Tennessee (Indianapolis Colts): Currently out of football after spending the last two seasons with the Jaguars. Played in only four games for the Colts as a rookie and then spent time with the Lions and Falcons. Has made only five career starters, all for the Jaguars.
We'll look at the recent players selected in the spots where the Packers pick in rounds five, six and seven the rest of this week.
