INDIANAPOLIS -- There could be a Bjoern Werner sighting for the Indianapolis Colts against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. That’s because starting linebacker Erik Walden is doubtful for the game with a foot injury that has caused him to miss practice this week.
Walden left Heinz Field in Pittsburgh last weekend wearing a walking boot on his right foot. He has 35 tackles and three sacks this season.
Werner, the Colts’ first-round pick in 2013, has been inactive four times this season.
“For the last four or five weeks, whatever it is, he comes in here hard hat, lunch pail, he’s a pro,” Colts coach Chuck Pagano said. “He understands, he gets it. He works and prepares like a starter just like the rest of them. You never know what’s going to happen. If that’s the case, he’ll go in, and he’ll play really good football. He’ll play winning football for us just like he’s done in the past.”
Fellow linebacker D’Qwell Jackson is listed as questionable with a quad injury, but he and Pagano both said they expect Jackson to play Sunday.
“You know D’Qwell. I know D’Qwell. D’Qwell is going to play,” Pagano said. “Right now, we’ve got all our chips out. We’re putting them all in the middle. I’ve got all my chips on this team, and I’ve got all my chips on 52 playing.”
Here’s the rest of the Colts injury report for Friday:
