OAKLAND -- Oakland Raiders safety Charles Woodson is active and will play Sunday against the visiting Baltimore Ravens despite dislocating his shoulder in Week 1.
Woodson practiced on a limited basis Thursday and Friday after not practicing Wednesday. Woodson was a game-time decision. Woodson was injured with a minute to go in the Raiders’ 33-13 home loss to Cincinnati last Sunday.
Woodson, who will turn 39 next month, has not missed a game since returning to the Raiders in 2013 as a free agent from Green Bay. The Raiders need Woodson. They were thin at safety going into Week 1 and fellow starter Nate Allen suffered a torn MCL. He was put on injured reserve with the designation to return. He will miss at least eight games. Career backup Larry Asante will start for Allen.
Meanwhile, Oakland receiver Rod Streater was an unexpected healthy scratch. The Raiders have just four receivers active Sunday. Streater, a former starter, was expected to be Oakland’s No. 3 receiver this season.
