Chimdi Chekwa back in No. 3 CB mix

ALAMEDA, Calif. -- It appears Chimdi Chekwa is on his way to becoming the Oakland Raiders' No. 3 cornerback again.

Ckewka practiced fully Thursday, an indication that he is ready to play after missing several weeks with a knee injury. He returned to practice on a limited basis Wednesday.

Oakland coach Dennis Allen indicated Chekwa will get the opportunity to regain his post if he is ready to play Sunday against the Houston Texans. Rookie TJ Carrie was Oakland’s No. 3 cornerback in a Week 1 loss at the New York Jets.

Meanwhile, starting linebacker Nick Roach continued to be limited Thursday. He has yet to be cleared for full contact after suffering a concussion Aug. 22 at Green Bay. Linebacker Kaluka Maiava was limited after missing practice Wednesday with an illness. Tackle Matt McCants missed Thursday’s practice with a knee injury.

In other Oakland notes:

Allen said the Raiders will fly to New England next week on Friday. Last week, they went to New Jersey on Thursday to play the Jets. The Raiders have lost 14 straight games in the Eastern time zone dating back to the 2009 season.

Allen continued to praise quarterback Matt Schaub for his professionalism in handling his demotion.
