DAVIE, Fla. -- Miami Dolphins defensive end Dion Jordan wasn't seen on the practice field in Day 2 of training camp. But he is present at the facility Saturday, according to head coach Adam Gase.

Jordan was conditionally reinstated Friday after serving a yearlong suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. Jordan is restricted in what he can do at this point and isn't cleared to take the practice field.

"There's a certain protocol that the league has put out, as far as what we need to follow," Gase said. "We're allowed to have certain conversations. He's allowed to do certain type of things. There's certain areas that he's allowed to be around. Obviously, we're taking everything very slowly. We're trying to make sure that we do everything by the book, exactly with the way the league wants us to do it."

Jordan hasn't played a game since December 2014 and has a lot of catching up to do. He is expected to join a deep group of defensive ends that includes veteran Andre Branch and former Pro Bowl players Mario Williams and Cameron Wake. An area where Jordan also can eventually help is special teams.

Here are other notes from Day 2 of training camp:

  • It was a sloppy day for the offense in team drills. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill had two bobbled snaps in his exchange with center Mike Pouncey, rookie running back Kenyan Drake fumbled and receiver Leonte Carroo dropped a pass. The running game also stalled for the most part, and safety Reshad Jones dropped an interception off Tannehill as the defense won the day.

  • Dallas Thomas and Billy Turner began practice as the starting guards for the second day in a row. But there was a lot of movement Saturday on the offensive line. Rookie first-round pick Laremy Tunsil spent time with the first and second team at left guard and played left tackle with the second team.

  • Rookie quarterback Brandon Doughty made some nice throws Saturday, including a pair of long gains to rookie receiver Jakeem Grant. Doughty, a seventh-round pick, could push Miami to keep three quarterbacks if he has a solid training camp and preseason.
