Vikings sign Bruce Gaston, place B.J. Dubose on waived/injured list

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Vikings, who lost defensive lineman B.J. Dubose to a torn ACL on the second day of organized team activities last week, bolstered their depth on the defensive line Tuesday.

The team signed nose tackle Bruce Gaston, who will make the Vikings his sixth team in three years and his third in the NFC North. Gaston has previously been with the Arizona Cardinals, New England Patriots, Miami Dolphins, Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears. He'll now try to stick with the Vikings after playing in nine games last season.

Gaston played two games with the Packers in 2015, before moving to the Bears and spending 11 games on their 53-man roster. He was active for seven games in Chicago, recording one sack and four quarterback hits. He posted 11 tackles, including one for loss.

Dubose, who was placed on the waived/injured list, figures to eventually wind up on injured reserve. A sixth-round pick in 2015, the Louisville product had a chance to work his way into the Vikings' defensive line rotation this year, before he was injured during last Wednesday's practice.
