Patriots add two to roster; Flowers goes on IR

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The New England Patriots made a series of roster moves Tuesday, adding wide receiver/return specialist Damaris Johnson to their 53-man roster while claiming rookie running back Trey Williams on waivers from the Cowboys.

The team already had one open roster spot and created an additional spot to account for Johnson and Williams by placing rookie defensive end Trey Flowers on season-ending injured reserve.

The 5-foot-8, 175-pound Johnson has been with the Eagles (2012-13) and Texans (2014). He is a quick, shifty slot receiver with experience as both a punt and kickoff returner.

The 26-year-old has played in 43 games (nine starts) and has 52 receptions for 601 yards and one touchdown. He has 23 career kickoff returns for 577 yards and 47 punt returns for 445 yards with one touchdown.

He entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Tulsa in 2012 with the Philadelphia Eagles, who happens to be the Patriots' next opponent.

Meanwhile, the 5-foot-7, 195-pound Williams entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M with Washington this year and spent time on the practice squad before the Cowboys signed him to their active roster. Williams was inactive for four games with Dallas before being waived Nov. 30.

In addition, the team signed rookie receiver Austin Hill to the practice squad and worked out veteran defensive back Zack Bowman.
