New Orleans Saints re-sign running back Travaris Cadet

NEW ORLEANS -- The New Orleans Saints reclaimed their former running back, Travaris Cadet, off waivers on Wednesday after he was released by the San Francisco 49ers. To make room, the Saints waived receiver TJ Graham.

Cadet, 26, spent his first three seasons in New Orleans as an undrafted rookie in 2012 as a backup runner/receiver and as a kickoff returner. It’s possible that’s the role New Orleans wants to use him in again now, since rookie return man Marcus Murphy was placed on injured reserve last week.

Cadet had 1,293 kickoff return yards, 37 rushing yard, 345 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns in his three years with the Saints. But they chose not to re-sign him this year as a restricted free agent.

Cadet began this season with the New England Patriots, but he appeared in only one game with them before being released. He appeared in four games with the 49ers. With the two teams, he totaled 16 rushing yards, eight catches for 68 receiving yards, zero return yards and zero touchdowns.
