The Philadelphia Eagles are far from settled at wide receiver. With no one stepping forward to claim a starring role alongside Jordan Matthews, the front office continues to search for answers. They just traded for Dorial Green-Beckham and are keeping their eyes peeled for in-house solutions as well. Here's what that uncertainty could mean from a fantasy perspective:
Jordan Matthews
ESPN Fantasy Projection: 979 yards, 6 TDs
Over or under: I'll go over on both. The Eagles aren't expected to be an offensive juggernaut, but Matthews should get plenty of action his way -- particularly given the question marks hanging over the rest of the wideouts. The 24-year-old posted eight TDs in each of his first two seasons while averaging 935 receiving yards. True, he is no longer in Chip Kelly's fast-break offense, but he should be schemed open more in Doug Pederson's hybrid West Coast system and will be used more on the outside.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: 618 yards, 4 TDs
Over or under: I'll go under on the TDs, over on the yards. The Eagles could really use a big step forward from their 2015 first-round pick. He is far removed from the high-ankle sprain that held him back for much of last year, and should certainly improve on his disappointing rookie numbers (23 receptions, 283 yards). He hasn't done enough this offseason to suggest he's on the verge of breaking out, though, so it's probably wise to keep expectations in check.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: 126 yards, 1 TD
Over or under: I'll go over on both. There were times this summer when Randle looked like the team's second-best receiver. Inconsistency has been an issue over the course of his career, however, and a down performance in the preseason opener against the Bucs didn't do much for his stock. His role has been further clouded by the recent acquisition of Green-Beckham. It would be unwise to bank on Randle from a fantasy perspective, but he could go well above these numbers if he sticks on the Eagles' 53-man roster.
Who else could see time: Green-Beckham is a boom-or-bust prospect who could be worth a late flier. ... Chris Givens has some decent history with Sam Bradford and could be the Eagles' primary deep threat. ... Josh Huff has some tools but hasn't been able to put it all together. He'd probably be used mostly in the short passing game if he earns a spot in the rotation.
