The Seattle Seahawks close out the preseason at 10 p.m. ET Thursday vs. the Oakland Raiders at CenturyLink Field. Here's a couple things to watch for during the game.

Why watch: Russell Wilson and the starters could see limited action, but that decision has nothing to do with the fact that the offense has struggled so far in the preseason.

"We’re going to play these guys like we have planned to, and it has nothing to do with what’s happened before," said coach Pete Carroll.

The Seahawks still have to finalize roster spots at a number of positions -- wide receiver, cornerback, defensive line and safety.

"It’s going to be a big game for Tharold Simon to show where he is," Carroll said. "He had a very good first game. This will be a very big game for Mohammed Seisay to get a chance to play finally. He’s been banged up. Will Blackmon will play a good deal of minutes. These guys are going to get some really significant playing time, of course the safeties too. So this is a very important game."

Simon is trying to challenge Cary Williams for a starting cornerback spot. Blackmon is trying to hold on to the first-team nickel spot. And Seisay is trying to make the roster.

Safeties such as Dion Bailey and DeShawn Shead will look to get valuable reps in the event that Kam Chancellor takes his holdout into the regular season.

Did you know: That Earl Thomas has never missed a regular season start? Thomas won't play against the Raiders, but he took off the red jersey in practice for the first time this week, and Carroll said the All-Pro safety is on track to play in Week 1 against the Rams. If that happens, it'll be Thomas' 81st straight start.

"He’s ready to go, so he’ll come back next week," Carroll said. "He’ll have to play without the game behind him, but he’s worked so hard. He looks really fast. He’s running great and moving well. I think he’s going to be ready to go -- as ready as we can get him at this point."
