The Seattle Seahawks ended their season on Sunday with a loss to the Cardinals. Here’s a look back at how I predicted their season would unfold.
My predicted record: 11-5
Seahawks’ actual record: 9-7
How I fared: My 11-win projection banked on Russell Wilson delivering a bounce-back season, the Seahawks having at least an average run game and their defense not regressing. Wilson, healthy again after playing hurt last season, was in the MVP conversation for much of the year, but his case was built largely on how much of Seattle’s offensive load he had to carry. The Seahawks couldn’t run the ball no matter who was taking the carries after rookie Chris Carson got hurt, a major disappointment given the resources they put into fixing that part of the offense. Season-ending injuries to Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor and Cliff Avril contributed to Seattle allowing almost 21 points per game, their most in any season since 2010. Blair Walsh's inconsistency also cost the Seahawks in a few losses, a possibility that my projection should have taken into account given his shaky history.
