TAMPA, Fla. -- With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers starting training camp Aug. 1, let's take a look at their projected starting lineup.

OFFENSE

Quarterback (Jameis Winston): The first pick in the draft will be the starter right away.

Running back (Doug Martin): He’s going to have to hold off a preseason competition from Charles Sims to hold onto his job.

Fullback (Jorvorskie Lane): Showed signs he can be a lead blocker last year.

Wide receiver (Vincent Jackson): He’s 32, but isn’t showing any signs of slowing down.

Wide receiver (Mike Evans): His only 100-yard games came in a three-game stretch in the middle of last season, so more consistency is needed.

Tight end (Austin Seferian-Jenkins): Had only 21 catches as a rookie, but should get a lot more in coordinator Dirk Koetter’s offense.

Left tackle (Donovan Smith): The Bucs don’t have much choice but to hand this job over to the rookie from Penn State.

Left guard (Logan Mankins): Didn’t have a great year, but showed up for the offseason program with a renewed enthusiasm.

Center (Evan Smith): Like the rest of the offensive line, he needs to be better than last year.

Right guard (Ali Marpet): The Bucs are likely to open the season with two rookie starters on the offensive line.

Right tackle (Demar Dotson): Was the best blocker on the line last year, but needs to cut down on penalties.

DEFENSE

DE (Jacquies Smith): A pleasant surprise with 6.5 sacks last year. Will take on a full-time role this year.

DT (Gerald McCoy): The Bucs like to say he’s the best defensive tackle in the business, and there’s not much room for argument.

DT (Clinton McDonald): Will need to hold off a preseason challenge from Henry Melton.

DE (George Johnson): Has only six career sacks, but Bucs see plenty of upside.

WLB (Lavonte David): The Bucs see him as the second coming of Derrick Brooks.

MLB (Bruce Carter): Bucs think he’s an upgrade in pass coverage over Mason Foster.

SLB (Danny Lansanah): Journeyman who showed a knack for making plays once he got the chance last season.

CB (Alterraun Verner): Solid last season but could be better if the pass rush shows up.

CB (Johnthan Banks): Blossomed last season and should be able to hold off Mike Jenkins for starting role.

FS (Bradley McDougald): Unproven, but the coaching staff sees big things in his future.

SS (D.J. Swearinger): Things didn’t work out for him in Houston, but he could benefit from a fresh start.

SPECIALISTS

K (Patrick Murray): Had a very strong rookie season.

P (Michael Koenen): Ranked last in the league in punting last season.

LS (Andrew DePaola): Was dependable in his first season.

KR (Kaelin Clay): The Bucs think Clay can spice up their return game.

PR (Kaelin Clay): The team will be happy if Clay can handle both return jobs.
