NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- With the 2-14 season in the bank, we'll spend some time looking back at a dozen plays that defined the Tennessee Titans' season.
I put them in rough order, but we certainly could shuffle the list.
Game: Steelers 27, Titans 24, Week 11 at LP Field, Nov. 17, 2014.
Situation: The Titans built a 24-13 lead late in the third quarter of their "Monday Night Football" game against Pittsburgh in a strong showing. But the wheels came off from there. In the fourth quarter, the Steelers drove 72 yards in eight plays and 65 yards in six plays for touchdowns to retake the lead. Tennessee punted the ball away with 6:56 remaining. The Titans needed a stop to get the ball back and get in range for a field goal to force OT or a touchdown to win it.
Play: The Steelers faced a second-and-2 from the Titans' 30 yard-line at the two-minute warning. Running back Le'Veon Bell took a handoff, went for 5 yards and effectively clinched the game, allowing Pittsburgh to kneel out the clock. That was Bell's sixth carry on that drive, and he gained for 67 yards as the Steeler's effectively played keep away. That amounted to a tribute to their offensive line coach, Mike Munchak, who'd spent nearly 40 years with the Oilers/Titans as a player, assistant and head coach before joining the Steelers in 2014. Bell finished with 33 carries for 204 yards and a touchdown.
