CBA provision gives Titans CB Coty Sensabaugh significant raise

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The NFL's proven performance escalators have produced a significant raise for Tennessee Titans cornerback Coty Sensabaugh.

Per the collective bargaining agreement, players drafted in Rounds 3-7 in 2012 get pay raises of close to $1 million if they played 35 percent of the offensive or defensive snaps in two of the last last years.

Sensabaugh meets that criteria, so his 2015 base salary has moved from $660,000 to $1.574 million.

Sensabaugh lost a preseason battle with Blidi Wreh-Wilson for the team’s No. 2 corner job, and remained the nickel cornerback. But Sensabaugh started five games when Wreh-Wilson was hurt, putting forth a very poor effort in Jacksonville on Dec. 18, 2014.

Pro Football Focus rated Sensabaugh 96th of 107 cornerbacks in the NFL in 2014.

Only two other Titans were eligible for the proven performance escalators.

Defensive end Mike Martin did not reach the playing time numbers and his base salary remains $680,000.

Tight end Taylor Thompson played in only three games in 2014 before landing on IR. His base salary remains $660,000.
