NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Run through the Tennessee Titans roster, and defensive line looks like a place they are actually OK.
End Jurrell Casey is one of the team’s best players. Al Woods was re-signed to play nose tackle. End DaQuan Jones was solid in his first season starting, and the team has been high on him.
Angelo Blackson is a second-year guy who showed flashes. Karl Klug is a versatile guy with a knack for rushing the passer pretty well.
Only Ropati Pitoitua of the top six looks bad. He’s due to make a $3 million base and really fell out of favor last season, playing just five games.
But we shouldn’t be surprised if the Titans add a defensive linemen at the end of the month. This is rated as a very good defensive line draft. Rebuilding teams look to the lines to get things started.
I asked one personnel man for an assessment of the Titans' defensive line and he said "no depth."
The Titans announced they had Oregon’s DeForest Buckner in for a visit Tuesday. I don’t know that he would be the No. 1 pick in the draft, but he could be a big addition if they trade down.
Somewhere along the way, and not just at the very end, I expect Tennessee will draft a defensive lineman.
At Music City Miracles, Terry Lambert is tracking every report he can find of visits, workouts or interest.
That list includes Clemson's Shaq Lawson, Central Arkansas end Jonathan Woodard, Louisiana Tech tackle Vernon Butler, UCLA tackle Kenny Clark, Indiana tackle Darius Latham, Clemson nose D.J. Reader, Nebraska lineman Maliek Collins, South Carolina State’s Javon Hargrave, Florida’s Jonathan Bullard, Michigan State’s Lawrence Thomas and Michigan State’s Joel Heath.
