Toss Sri Lanka opt to bat vs West Indies

Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat first in the first T20I in Kingston, as rain refreshingly stayed clear in the Jamaican city for the start of the series - though, worryingly, there is rain forecast for later in the evening.

For the time being though the team has focused on the things within their control. In a tour that is three matches deep, but barely even begun owing to two connective washouts, both captains were keen to get out on the field.

Sri Lanka had named their XI a day earlier - a practice seemingly becoming increasingly common under new head coach Gary Kirsten - and they've gone with a six-five lineup, with three seamers and two front-line spinners. Notably Lasith Croospulle is in the XI, slotted in at number three and playing in just his second T20I.

West Indies have opted for an extra seamer, to make it a four-pronged pace attack, as Gudakesh Motie makes way. Akeal Hossain will lead the spin contingent, with Roston Chase for support.

As for the pitch, the West Indies XI probably provides a clue - expect bounce and carry, though it is also a on the patchy side. If the weather stays clear - there was some drizzle around at the toss - it could be an entertaining evening's cricket.
