Cheslin Kolbe was left out of the matchday 23 for South Africa's second Rugby's Greatest Rivalry (RGR) Test against the All Blacks in Cape Town on Saturday, after picking up an injury in the 33-16 loss at Ellis Park.

Kurt-Lee Arendse starts again on the wing despite a concussion scare, and is partnered by Ethan Hooker, with Damian Willemse at fullback.

Jesse Kriel and Damian de Allende are retained at centre, while fellow seasoned campaigner Handre Pollard returns at flyhalf after being omitted for the first Test. Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu drops to the bench, with Manie Libbok out of the 23.

Cobus Reinach starts at scrumhalf, with Grant Williams out of the matchday squad. Morne van den Berg is the backup no.9 for Saturday.

Pieter-Steph du Toit captains the side in his 100th Test at flanker, starting alongside either Siya Kolisi or Paul de Villiers and eighthman Jasper Wiese.

Kolisi's participation is uncertain as he recovers from injury, and Rassie Erasmus appears to have opted to prepare for the match with du Toit as his skipper. This ensures preparation can continue with clarity over leadership regardless of Kolisi's fitness.

Ruan Nortje partners Eben Etzebeth at lock, with a front row of Ox Nche, Malcolm Marx and Wilco Louw.

Erasmus has once again opted for either a 5-3 or 6-2 split on the bench, depending on how utility player Andre Esterhuizen is deployed.
