Bills place Ty Powell on injured reserve

PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- The Buffalo Bills placed linebacker Ty Powell on injured reserve Tuesday, one day after he was carted off the practice field with a possible torn ACL.

Powell was a key special teams contributor for the Bills and their top reserve behind starting linebackers Nigel Bradham and Preston Brown.

He is the second defensive player the Bills have lost to an ACL injury since last week. Top reserve defensive end Jarius Wynn also was placed on injured reserve Tuesday after injuring his knee in Friday's preseason loss to the Carolina Panthers.

The Bills signed veteran linebacker/defensive end Quentin Groves on Tuesday to add depth to the team's depleted defensive front seven.

Powell played in 14 games last season, recording 14 tackles and one sack. Wynn played in 11 games last season, tallying 17 tackles and two sacks.
