Enzo Maresca 'not worried' about players leaving Manchester City (0:46)

Manchester City opened their Premier League campaign with an unconvincing 2-1 win over Bournemouth.

Marc Guéhi and Josko Gvardiol both struck after the 85th minute to cancel out Marcus Tavernier's first half opener, handing Enzo Maresca three points in his first game in charge since replacing Pep Guardiola.

Man City started the brighter of the two, fashioning a number of chances in the opening quarter but fell off thereafter as Tavernier punished them when finishing off a counter.

In chasing the game, City looked sluggish, struggling to offer a genuine threat on goal.

In the end, Rayan Cherki's introduction off the bench proved decisive, the French wing notching a pair of assists to bail his manager out and start the campaign on the right foot.

Here, ESPN rates the City players after a smash-and-grab victory at home.

Manager rating (out of 10)

Enzo Maresca, 7 -- A win to start his Man City era? Check. The decision to play Marc Guéhi in midfield initially didn't pay off, City's play through the middle of the park looking sluggish after a strong start. However, he was on the park to head in the equaliser. The introduction of Rayan Cherki off the bench added some much needed impetus, the French wing finding the assist for both City goals.

Player ratings (1-10; 10 = best, 5 = average)

GK Gianluigi Donnarumma, 6 -- Only asked to make a handful of saves given Man City's dominance of possession throughout.

RB Nico Lewis, 6 -- Looked positive beating markers when taking up the ball close to halfway, but struggled for any end product in the attacking third. City's threat down the right improved when Nunes replaced Lewis just shy of the hour mark.

CB Rúben Dias, 6 -- Not asked to do a lot defensively due to City's possession dominance. But the entire back four looked shaky too often for comfort in the first half.

CB Abdukodir Khusanov, 5 -- A poor attempt to shove Evanilson off the ball ultimately created sufficient space for Bournemouth to score their opener.

LB Josko Gvardiol, 7 -- Credit for getting so far forward to become the only player in the box when scoring the winner.

CM Marc Guéhi, 6 -- An average display only made better by heading home the equaliser. His midfield partnership with Anderson lacked tempo. Too many waylaid passes. Missed a sitter of a header from four yards out and even the header that did hit the net took a fortuitous deflection.

CM Elliot Anderson, 5 -- Limping off injured on 63 minutes will lead to some concerns for the £116 million man. Good at breaking up play defensively but could not improve on a strong start when threading the ball through midfield.

RM Phil Foden, 6 -- Started brilliantly, linking beautifully with Haaland with a number of clever touches. Fell off thereafter, picked up a booking and went straight down the tunnel when substituted.

AM Nico O'Reilly, 6 -- Another who started well, beating defenders and sending dangerous balls into the box inside the opening quarter. Couldn't keep it up.

LM Antoine Semenyo, 7 -- Was the closest thing City had to a strong performer across the game. Incredible battle with Smith down the left hand side. Not a lot of chances created but only one to show consistent ability to beat defenders.

ST Erling Haaland, 7 -- Missed one sitter in the first half but otherwise did well to earn a series of chances that weaker players would not have forced. On another day, with better service, he scores plenty.

Substitutes (players introduced after 70 minutes: no rating)

RB Matheus Nunes (Lewis 57'), 7 -- Linking with Cherki when he came on six minutes later, City's attacking play looked markedly better after his introduction.

CM Mateo Kovacic (Anderson 63'), 6 -- Added a touch of tempo to proceedings but was generally quiet.

RM Rayan Cherki (O'Reilly 63'), 8 -- Two assists inside a few minutes that decided the game. One with a corner, the other a brilliant pass to Gvardiol despite defensive pressure.

LM Jack Grealish (Foden 82'), NR -- Not involved much after his introduction.
