JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Dan Skuta will sit out Sunday's game against San Diego because of a groin injury that has bothered him for the past three weeks.
Skuta missed the Baltimore game on Nov. 15 but felt good enough to play against Tennessee four days later. He re-injured the groin during the game and didn't practice at all this week. The Jaguars ruled him out on Friday.
"When you re-injure something when it's not quite good to go, that's kind of how it is," Skuta said. "I'm obviously a little frustrated with it. I want to be out there and stuff, but just trying to be patient and be positive that I'm going to get out there as soon as I possibly can."
Skuta re-injured his groin against the Titans when he was trying to get off a block and put too much pressure on one leg.
"It was one of those things where I felt good in the pre-game, I felt good out there, and if that play wouldn't have happened the way it did, maybe I would have been fine and maybe I'd be going this week," he said. "There's a risk of getting injured [at any time]. I could have gotten injured in any other way, too. That's how football is."
Skuta has 27 tackles, 1.5 sacks, one pass breakup, one forced fumble and three tackles for loss playing the otto (strongside) linebacker spot. Undrafted rookie Thurston Armbrister started in that spot against Baltimore and likely will do so against the Chargers.
Here's the rest of the Jaguars' injury report for Sunday:
Receiver Neal Sterling (illness), safety Craig Loston (ankle) and running back Bernard Pierce (calf) are doubtful.
Running back Toby Gerhart (groin), TE Nic Jacobs (hamstring), receiver Allen Hurns (ankle/sports hernia), defensive tackle Roy Miller (knee), defensive tackle Michael Bennett (hamstring), and cornerback Peyton Thompson (foot) are probable.
