Defining moment No. 2: Wesley Woodyard's penalty against the Jets

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- With the 2-14 season in the bank, we'll spend some time looking back at a dozen plays that defined the Titans season.

I put them in rough order, but we certainly could shuffle the list

Game: Jets 16, Titans 11, Week 15 at LP Field, Dec. 14, 2014

Situation: Ryan Succop's 51-yard field goal late in the third quarter gave the Titans an 11-10 lead over the Jets as the Titans looked to end a seven-game losing streak. The Titans looked poised to get the ball back and give the offense another chance in the fourth quarter.

Play: On a third-and-15 for the Jets at the New York 19 yard-line, quarterback Geno Smith lined up in the shotgun and threw a short pass for Eric Decker on the left sideline. Cornerback Coty Sensabaugh was in coverage as the pass fell incomplete. But there had been a fight earlier in the game, and officials seemed quick to throw a flag on inside linebacker Wesley Woodyard for unsportsmanlike conduct after the play. Decker shoved Woodyard, who said he did not respond. “Even Decker said [Woodyard] didn't say anything,” Sensabaugh said. “… He said that right after the flag was thrown. He said it to me when we were walking back to the huddle. He said, ‘Man, he didn't even do nothing. That was a horrible call.'” The penalty was good for 15 yards for the Jets and a first down. They moved 66 more yards in seven more plays, finishing the go-ahead, game-winning drive with a 1-yard scoring run from Chris Ivory.
